We had a fantastic result for our JHB Broodmare Partnership at this year’s Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, with Betsy Blue and her foal each selling for US$450,000 (approximately A$648,500), delivering gross sales of US$900,000 (approximately A$1.3 million).
Having originally purchased Betsy Blue at Keeneland two years ago for US$375,000, this brings the investment come full circle with a strong result.
Our Broodmare Partnership is focused on identifying quality mares in international markets, with a particular interest in American bloodlines, and creating commercial trading opportunities through careful breeding decisions and management.
Betsy Blue is another pleasing example of the opportunities we see in this market and the strategy behind the partnership. Previous results (from a small number of mares) for our Broodmare Partnership include a $1,900,000 Magic Millions sale topping colt by I Am Invincible, a $1,700,000 Snitzel colt and a $1,100,000 Extreme Choice filly.
