Belinda Bateman’s extraordinary matriarch, Satin Shoes, who was a JHB yearling purchase at Inglis Easter, started her stud career with seven fillies in succession, each of which has been retained by Belinda to race. They include Gimcrack Stakes winner Satin Slipper, as well as the speedy city winners Satin Ribbons, Satin Socks and Satin and Silk.
The latest produce of Satin Shoes is 2YO filly Satin Summer, who is by Written Tycoon. She made her debut this weekend in a strong 2YO race at Randwick, and showed her rivals a clean pair of heels. Quickly in the lead under Tommy Berry, she quickened again in great style in the straight to power clear and win impressively.
Congratulations to Belinda Bateman, who has nurtured this family impeccably, and thanks to trainer Michael Freedman and his team for a job well done with this promising and speedy juvenile.
